Halo 3 is one of MLG's largest professionally plaid games with many tournaments and even a regular season for professional teams around the United States. Halo 3 is a first person shooter that is played on the Xbox 360 console. It is one of the most successful first person shooter franchise in History and this is largely to its excellent multiplayer aspects.

Halo 3 can be played online with up to 16 players over Xbox Live. Game types vary from Slayer to Odd Ball. Slayer is a simple death match where the either free for all or teams compete to achieve a certain number of kills. There are also objective type games for Halo 3 such as Capture the Flag and other more interesting game types such as Territories, Assault, and VIP.

Halo 3 has many different maps on which to play the several different multiplayer game types. Each map is geared for a certain number of players as well as certain game types but there is no restriction on what game type can be played on what map with whatever amount of players you want.

MLG uses set game types and maps that have been made standard. MLG Halo 3 is 4 on 4 with a special player settings and custom maps as well as defined game types. Halo 3 offers MLG and professional gamers a variety of options to customize the game too fit their playing standards. Standards are important in professional gaming. Halo 3 is just one of many different games that are professionally played and MLG is the organized professional gaming organization.
